Basic Obedience & Loose Lead Walking

COVID-19 Update: 17/03/2020

As the COVID-19 situation continues to rapidly evolve and in light of the new government advice just released that "Now is the time for everyone to stop non-essential contact with others and to stop all unnecessary travel," we’ve decided to suspend all face-2-face training (groups and 1-2-1) with immediate effect as we personally want to do everything we can to follow the government restrictions.

Right now a small group of people training outdoors should be very low risk, but we all need to prioritise our own safety and that of everyone else.  The situation is extremely serious and it’s imperative that we all act responsibly to save lives in the coming weeks and months.

Our dogs can remind us to stay present, calm, and still have some fun and exercise through this uncertain and difficult time and to this end we are moving to an online format and will be posting training videos and content via facebook and youtube so you can train your dog at home.  Do join our facebook group if you’d like to keep in touch with this: https://www.facebook.com/groups/GrafhamWaggers/?ref=bookmarks

Let’s hope and look forward to better times in the future and some very well trained dogs after all this time at home!

Stay safe and healthy everyone,

Nicki

This is a five week course running on Sunday afternoons at 2pm at the Marlow Grafham Water Car Park.  This is a large, beautiful park venue with visitor centre, cafe and plenty of easy adjacent parking.

This course is suitable for puppies and dogs of any age.  We will teach you how to get your dog to walk nicely on a loose lead beside you when working under distractions, brush up your recall and master the basic obedience positions 'Sit, 'Down', 'Stand' and that all important 'Stay' & 'Leave It' .

These are pre-requisite skills for joining our weekly Drop-in Clever Canine Classes.

If you have or haven’t attended training with another organisation and your puppy or dog is still pulling on a lead and not walking nicely when you are out these sessions will be suitable for you.

We use a variety of fun games and exercises to improve your dogs focus and attention on you and help you teach your dog how to walk nicely beside you in a distracting environment.  When you have mastered this key skill not only will your daily walks be so much more enjoyable you'll have laid the foundation for enjoying all sorts of other training activities with your best four legged friend!

In these sessions you will be training with a clicker so you will need to buy one in advance or on the day.

At the end of the course you can expect to have:

  • A good understanding of Mark & Reward training,
  • A good understanding of how to train Recall from scratch,
  • Made good progress teaching loose lead manners,
  • A Sit and Down on command,
  • The beginnings of a good stay,
  • Had lots of fun with like minded folks!

Ready to Start?  Great!

Please fill in the short enrolment form below and click the blue send button.  Then complete the payment step and we'll look forward to seeing you soon!

Note: as these sessions are so popular we're sorry but we can't accept your booking without payment in full.  Please ensure you send the form and complete the payment step to join - many thanks!
